Sequential Poses

Here are some recent life drawings done in class. They were to be sequences of actions done by the model. I really tried to focus on the muscles to further my understanding of them.

Step Up, Jump Down

Most Recent Animation. Character Steps up and jumps down. We had to have him pause at the top for a bit, so I made him look around, notice something interesting. and jump off in its direction. Animation is a very time consuming medium. At times very frustrating but also very satisfying too. Don't mind the flickers at the start and end.

Pulp Fiction

Here's another digital painting assignment in which we had to paint someone featuring at least their head and one hand, I chose to do Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. Overall I had quite a bit of fun with this project... took quite a long time to complete though.

Einbeck

Here's the a Layout Pan we had to do for class, going from left to right. The entire drawing is about 30 inches long and about 10 inches high. For the pan we had to do some ancient or historical civilization, so I chose medieval Germany. Its not too ancient but it still worked. I specifically chose to do the drawing based off the small town of Einbeck in North-Central Germany. It is merely inspired and uses elements from the town, but overall the map of the town looks nothing like it. The tower with the cage, at the end of the pan is the focal point of the scene. In history, the cage on this tower was used to torture Heinrich Diek, after he was accused of burning down just about all of Einbeck.

Character Styles

Here's a character developed in various styles. The one on the left is done using construction paper cutouts and was designed to be similar to a stained glass window. The next one was developed for a Western animated cartoon and the last two were made for a Super Nintendo type Japanese RPG. The Pixel art would be what you see as you walk around the world map, and the Cell painted character is what you see when you check character stats. etc. The character is Dirk, a forest wanderer. He knows just about everyone that lives in the forests he wanders. Even Maggie the witch, everyone fears her... but not Dirk! Overall, it was a pretty fun project.

Digital Gorilla

Here's another Digital Assignment. The purpose of the project was to paint in Photoshop a creature with fur/hair as a dominant feature. I chose this guy; the fur was pretty difficult to do and I continued in a trial-and-error type process until I came to this result. Overall, I think I learned quite a bit about applying fur to a painting.
